Blog EntryBirmingham Carnival 2005Aug 7, '05 2:37 PM
for everyone

It was party time in the streets and in Perry Park at Birmingham today. The streets were full of fusion of exotic costumes, rhythmic beats and joyful celebration. :)

Birmingham Carnival is an event of celebration for Caribbean community. The essence and spirit of Caribbean tradition are shown with colour, excitement and spectacle in this event. Everybody is dancing along with the joyful beats.

There was a carnival parade started at 12.30pm and finished at the Perry Park at around 6pm. The troupes came in all sort of elaborate costumes and performing energetic dancing throughout whole 6 hours in the streets.

Stalls were set up in the Park selling tempting traditional Caribbean food like Jerk Chicken and Jamaican Patties. I tried the Ocre Salt Fish with traditional Jamaican rice and a chicken pattie. Yammy yammy!

There was also a fun-fair and lots of children's ride in the Park! And you have to believe it, I actually went for a ride on DJ Jump. Something like a twister jumbo ring cable car, which go up and down, turn in a circle. (Well, I have to show the pictures later as I have used up my photo upload limit for this month!) To tell the truth, I can't really walk in a straight line after coming down from the ride! haha...

Fantastic, amazing, powerful, exciting, exotic and delicious! :)
