for everyone

A famous tourist attraction in the Italian city of Florence - the 16th Century statue of Neptune - has been damaged by clambering youths. (BBC News)

I was at Florence beginning of March this year. It was amazing to see all these famous statues are set in the middle of the crowded street, without much protection, except security camera. Pedestrians can go near the statues without any restriction.

I was asking HC, "Are they 'real' statues or just the copies? Why isn't there any restriction for people to go near by?"

This Naptune statue is set in the middle of the fountain, with bronze figures at the base. It was situated together with other famous statues like David, in front of the town hall at Piazza della Signoria.

According to the news, the restoration might take up to a year before it can be displayed. Luckily this wasn't happened when we were in Florence. :)
